The Rosmini College is placed in Domodossola, which is a lovely town situated in the heart of the Italian Alps, 120 kilometres north from Milano and next to the Swiss Border.
The town, founded in the fourth century Before Christ by the “Leponzi” (an ancient people who lived in the North Italy and Switzerland before the Roman conquest of the area in the 12 BC) lies between the historical Mattarella hill and the Toce river, and it is well known for its International Railways Station, which is an important hub on the line Genova – Rotterdam line.
During the World War II and during the German occupation, the Ossolan Valley proclamed itself a Republic, and broke away from Italy. The Capital City of the Ossolan Republic was Domodossola, and the headquarters of the government were in the City Hall.
The local economy is based on services and tourism, which is rapidly growing. In addition, in the mountains around the city there are many dams and hydroelectric plants.
